We could have done much more in Op Sindoor but showed restraint: Rajnath
In a commendable show of restraint during Operation Sindoor, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh expressed his admiration for the Indian forces. He officially opened the Shyok tunnel in Ladakh, a crucial all-weather route that will enhance connectivity...

Rajnath said this as he inaugurated the strategic 920-meter-long Shyok tunnel along the Line of Actual Control in eastern Ladakh that had witnessed intense faceoff between Indian and Chinese forces. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of BRO projects in Leh, Rajnath said the coordination witnessed among armed forces, civil administration and citizens of border areas during Operation Sindoor was also incredible and infrastructure development in these areas remains a key focus of the government. "Just a few months ago, we witnessed how, in response to the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, our armed forces executed Operation Sindoor, and what they did to the terrorists, the world knows. Of course, we could have done much more if we wanted to, but our forces demonstrated not only valour but also restraint, doing only what was necessary," said Rajnath.
In Leh, the minister inaugurated 125 infrastructure projects at once, which he said has never happened before, so is a major achievement for BRO and for the country.
"Today we are inaugurating the 920-meter-long Shyok Tunnel constructed on the Darbuk-Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi Road in Ladakh. This engineering marvel, built in one of the world's most difficult and challenging terrains, will ensure all-weather reliable connectivity in this strategic area," he said.
