In what appears to be another tragic event in the skies, an indigenous fighter plane of the Indian Air Force has crashed.

The Tejas aircraft by Hindustan Aeronauticals Ltd crashed on the last day at the Dubai Airshow at the Al Maktoum International Airport, during a showcase, the IAF has confirmed. The pilot also sustained fatal injuries.

As per local media reports, fighter jet crashed into the ground soon after take-off at around 2.10 PM local time.

Furthermore, photos and videos shared online show plumes of black smoke billowing into the air from the aircraft on the ground.

What did the IAF say

Confirming the event in a post on X, the IAF said that a court of inquiry is being constituted to determine the cause of the fatal crash.

"An IAF Tejas aircraft met with an accident during an aerial display at Dubai Air Show, today. The pilot sustained fatal injuries in the accident. IAF deeply regrets the loss of life and stands firmly with the bereaved family in this time of grief. A court of inquiry is being constituted, to ascertain the cause of the accident," the IAF said.



The show was temporarily halted, and visitors were directed back to the exhibition area, as per Gulf News.
