VVIP choppers deal: CBI court issues warrants against European middlemen

The CBI said the NBWs and the summonses were issued against the accused on the basis of its charge sheet filed in September this year.

The charge sheet had also named retired Air Marshal J S Gujral, Sanjeev Tyagi, cousin of the former IAF chief, and middleman Gautam Khaitan.
NEW DELHI: A CBI court on Wednesday issued non-bailable warrants against three foreign nationals allegedly involved in the AgustaWestland VVIP chopper deal case. The three accused are GR Heshke, CV Gerosa and CM James.

Taking cognizance of a CBI chargesheet, the court summoned to former Air Force chief SP Tyagi and all others who stand chargesheeted. They have been asked to appear before court on December 20.

A total of 94 Indians and five foreigners are named in the chargesheet. Three companies have also been named.


Tyagi is the first chief of the IAF to be chargesheeted in a corruption case. Retired air marshal JS Gujral is also stands chargesheeted.

CBI said Tyagi, in conspiracy with others, reduced service ceiling for VVIP helicopters from 6,000 meters to 4,500 meters and revised operational requirements to make AgustaWestland eligible and eliminate competition.
