The U.S. military's Southern Command said on Tuesday that Ecuadorian and U.S. ‌forces ⁠launched operations ⁠against what it said were designated terrorist organizations in Ecuador.

The Southern Command, which is ⁠the ‌U.S. military's combatant command that ⁠encompasses 31 countries through South and Central America and the Caribbean, said that the action was ‌meant to combat illicit drug trafficking, but ⁠did not provide more details in a statement on social media website X.
