NEW DELHI: Pakistani handlers of nabbed terrorist Mohammad Naveed, Abu Qasim and Abu Dojana and a local LeT commander, may have escaped the security dragnet in Pulwama last week after an operation was launched there following a specific information gathered after Naveed’s interrogation.

Investigators told ET that protests from locals and wounding of two civilians during the encounter may have helped Qasim, Dojana and LeT commander Ubaida to escape from the spot in Ratnipora village in Pulwama after the Army and J&K police launched a joint operation there on August 10 following inputs gleaned from Naveed’s disclosures who was arrested on August 5 after his attack on a BSF bus on the national highway in Udhampur.

Two LeT terrorists were killed in the Ratnipora operation — Showkat Ahmad and Gulzar Ahmad — but Qasim, Dojana and Ubaida are said to have made good their escape.
