Srinagar: Two terrorists were killed and two armymen injured in three separate operations across J&K on Thursday.

The region has witnessed a surge in high casualty operations against the armed forces, especially in the Jammu division, where infiltrators have carried out ambush attacks in forest areas. Officials informed that two terrorists were killed as armed forces foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control in Keran sector of Kupwara district in northern Kashmir. "Two infiltrators have been killed and the operation is still going on," an official said.

In an operation in Katisgarh area of Doda, where four armymen and a policeman were killed recently, two Army personnel were injured in an exchange of fire with terrorists. Officials said the infiltrators targeted a temporary security post in a government school campus in Jaddan Bata village in the Kastigarh area around 2 am. The exchange of fire continued for several hours during which the two armymen were injured. The infiltrators managed to flee into the nearby forest area.

"Forces on the ground are engaged in a well-coordinated operation against terrorists with whom we had contact yesterday and today as well. The operation is under progress and we will get success soon," deputy inspector general of police, Doda-Kishtwar, Ramban range, Shridhar Patil told reporters in Kastigarh. He refused to share further details about the operation. Police have summoned, questioned and detained over 25 people to probe the recent attack. They suspect that the infiltrators were given shelter and food by some locals in the area. "The infiltrators mutilated the bodies and fled with weapons as well in the July 16 attack in Doda," said an official.

The search operation entered the fourth day on Thursday in Doda area, during which brief exchanges of fire were reported twice in the target area around Desa village.
