Two top Hizbul terrorists killed in North Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The forces killed two Hizb ul Mujahideen terrorists, including its divisional commander, at Sopore in north Kashmir on Monday.

The two slain militants were identified as Pervaiz Ahmad Wani of Galoora Handwara of north Kashmir, who police claim was divisional commander of HM and Naeem Ahmad Najar of Brad in Sopore.

J&K police claims to have found two AK rif les, three AK magazines, 90 AK rounds, one INSAS rifle, one INSAS maga z ine, 13 INSAS rounds and other ammunition from the encounter site.


Acting on a tip off, J&K police along with 22 RR and 179, 177 and 92 battalions of CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Check-e-Brath area of Sopore on Monday morning, during which mi litants opened fire triggering an encounter.

The police claim that the two militants were involved in many anti-national activities, including killing of policemen, in north Kashmir. Wani was involved in several attacks on police and Army while as Najar was instrumental in indoctrinating and recruiting many youth of north Kashmir in HM.

In a separate incident, militants lobbed grenade at a patrol party of government forces in Qazigund area of south Kashmir, in which three CRPF personnel were injured.
