J&K: Two terrorists neutralised as security forces foil infiltration bid in Uri sector
Srinagar: Two infiltrators were killed along the Line of Control in Uri area of Baramulla in northern Kashmir on Wednesday.

"Security forces successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt in the Uri sector along the LoC. Two terrorists neutralised by vigilant security forces. Recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition. Extensive search operations are on," the Jammu and Kashmir police said.

The army and BSF maintain that despite the fresh ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistani armies along the Line of Control and border since February 2021, several infiltration attempts and ceasefire violations have been reported from across the LoC and border.

Earlier this month, director general of J&K police R R Swain along with the Director General of CRPF Sujoy Lal Thaosen jointly chaired a high-level meeting to review the security arrangements ahead of the winter season. Swain stressed on augmenting and enhancing capabilities and directed for launching the operations in higher reaches and flushing the hiding local and foreign militants.

The armed forces have killed at least 60 militants in J&K including 40 foreigners.
