The Army said it killed two heavily armed infiltrators along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu on Saturday night.

The forces deployed along LoC noticed suspicious movement in Balakot sector ahead of the border fence. They opened fire and killed two infiltrators, following which they immediately launched a massive search operation in the area, said Army officials.

"At around 7:45 pm (Saturday), alert troops of the Indian Army deployed on the border fence in Balakot observed suspicious movement ahead of the border fence and subsequently neutralised two terrorists," said an army official.

The killing comes at a time when forces have launched a massive search operation in the Rajouri-Poonch range and other areas of Jammu in the wake of the recent twin attacks in Dhangri village of Rajouri in which seven persons were killed and 11 others injured. The seventh person injured in the attack on January 1 evening, identified as Prince Sharma, succumbed on Sunday morning in the hospital.

The armed forces also destroyed an IED recovered during a cordon and search operation in Budhal village of Rajouri.
