Two Surya Kiran aircraft crash during practice, 1 pilot feared dead

Initial reports indicate that the other pilot involved in the crash has suffered injuries and is being treated at a medical facility within the Yelahanka Air Force station, where the team was practising.

The team had performed during a rehearsal of the show on Monday and were practicing their manouevres prior to the crash at the Station.
A pilot of the Surya Kiran aerobatic team is suspected to have died after two aircraft of the team crashed at the Yelahanka New Town area while practicing for the Aero India show around 12 noon here on Tuesday. Initial reports indicate that the other pilot involved in the crash has suffered injuries and is being treated at a medical facility within the Yelahanka Air Force station, where the team was practising.

The team had performed during a rehearsal of the show on Monday and were practicing their manouevres prior to the crash at the Station. Visuals taken by people at the spot show one of the pilots lying injured on the ground and being carried away on a stretcher. Personnel from the Fire & Emergency Services reached the site of the crash. Chief of Fire & Emergency Services MN Reddi has tweeted that one IAF pilot is suspected to have died in the air crash, and that he is heading to the location of the accident.

On February 1, a Mirage 2000 aircraft of the IAF had crashed in Bengaluru, leading to the death of two pilots.
