Two army men, 2 porters killed in J&K terror attack

Four people, including two Army men and two Army porters, were killed when terrorists ambushed an Army vehicle in Buta Pathri area near Gulmarg in Baramulla district of Jammu & Kashmir. Three soldiers were injured in the attack.

Officials said the incident took place on Thursday evening when gunmen opened fire on a vehicle that was part of a convoy passing through the area. The attack was followed by an exchange of fire at the spot, which is close to the Line of Control on one side. On the other side, a mountain range divides the tourist resort of Gulmarg and Poonch district in the Jammu division. Gulmarg, a world-famous ski resort, will soon begin preparations for the yearly winter sports.

"A brief firefight took place between Indian Army and terrorists in general area Buta Pathri, Baramulla. Details are being ascertained," read the official statement. The officials said "four people including two Army men and two porters of the Army were killed and three others were injured in the attack".


The attack took place days after seven people, including a local doctor and non-local workers of a construction company, were killed and five others injured in Gagangir area in Ganderbal on Srinagar-Leh highway.

Chief minister Omar Abdullah said on X: "...This recent spate of attacks in Kashmir is a matter of serious concern... Send my condolences to the loved ones of the people who lost their lives. I also pray that injured make a complete and swift recovery."
