New Delhi: Top brass of the Army, led by Chief of Defence Staff General N S Raja Subramani, on Wednesday briefed a parliamentary panel about the steps taken for the defence of the country, including in all land borders and where it is strategically deployed.

The team of Army officers is learnt to have conveyed to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, headed by BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh, that adequate forces were deployed along the border as well as strategic locations to foil any nefarious design by forces inimical to the country, sources said.

The agenda of Wednesday's meeting was "Oral evidence of the representatives of the Ministry of Defence on the subject 'Role of Indian Army in ensuring defence of the Country'".


The Army top brass also briefed the panel on deployment of forces for internal security in Jammu and Kashmir and the northeastern region, and disaster management among others.

The committee was also told about new and modern technology adopted by the army, the sources said.

"It was a good meeting. We are satisfied with the briefing by the Army. We are very proud of our Armed forces," a member of the committee who attended the meeting said.

Besides General Subramani, several Lieutenant Generals, Major Generals, Brigadiers holding key positions were part of the Army team which briefed the parliamentary panel.
