To check the increased entry of Rohingya, Assam government will hand over the case to National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “There is an increase in the inflow of Rohingya in Assam, last year we arrested several of them even middlemen who brought them were identified. They basically move to Jammu and Kashmir and Delhi. There are two cases of Rohingya, one Assam police is investigating and the other we will give to the NIA. The middleman gets Rs 45,000 if he manages to sneak in a family of Rohingya, in this case we want to be probed by NIA. I will have a discussion with the Director of NIA.”

He added, “Al-Qaida/Al-Qaida in Indian Sub-continent (AQIS) is active in Assam. We have busted several of their modules. We are keeping a constant vigil on them.”
