Three Dima Halam Daoga (Action group) militants killed in encounter

HAFLONG: Three hardcore militants, including the Chairman-cum-Commander-in-Chief, of the Dima Halam Daoga (Action group) were killed in an encounter with security forces today in Assam's Dima Hasao district, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, the police launched an operation in Basabari area of the district and an encounter followed in which the three militants were killed.

The slain militants include the outfit's Chairman-cum- Commander-in-Chief Shibu Kemprai and founder member Nogen Phonglo while the third was yet to be identified.

An AK-47 rifle and two pistols were recovered from the slain militants.

Combing operations in the area was on, the police added.

The bodies of the slain militants have been sent to Haflong Civil Hospital for post mortem.
