COIMBATORE: Senior police and forest department officials from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala today discussed about steps to be taken to prevent movement of Maoists reported along the border villages in the three states.

The officials discussed the issue in Udhagamandalam in nearby Nilgiris district, police sources said.

Besides monitoring the movement of Maoists, they also discussed about steps to provide basic amenities and other facilities to the tribals living in the borders and forest areas, they said.

The meeting also discussed ways to involve the tribals in providing information to the officials about the movement of strangers, so that precautionary measures could be taken, the sources said.
