Taliban claims success against Pakistan terrorists: 'Killed 28 fighters & wounded 32 others'

The Taliban regime has claimed major success against alleged Pakistan military-backed ISIS insurgents who it said had crossed into Afghanistan.

On Sunday, Afghanistan's defence ministry claimed that its forces had killed 28 fighters and wounded 32 others in eastern Nuristan province. The infiltrators, the ministry claimed, included Daesh or ISIS extremists who had crossed the border from Pakistan. The incident comes less than a week after Pakistan conducted airstrikes inside Afghanistan on September 21 as bilateral ties continue to be affected.

The Afghan defence ministry's claim is a direct accusation of Pakistani state involvement in an armed infiltration. As per the ministry, the group crossed into Kamdesh district, near the Pakistani border, on Saturday with the intention of carrying out attacks.


The Taliban forces launched an operation after which surviving fighters fled back, the ministry said.

Pakistan has not yet responded to the Taliban's statement.
