Talking to the media, Nath said that efforts were being made to erect a barbed wire fencing and for deploying technological solutions along the border. “In 2021, eight pending gaps of Single Row Fence (SRF) have been fully completed and plugged. The SRF work is in progress in other stretches. The BSF is trying to complete the fencing works along the entire 856 km international border with Tripura by this year,” he said.

BSF seized huge quantities of contraband items worth around Rs 35.64 crore, including various highly addictive narcotics valued at around Rs 14 crore,” he said.
He added that 45,07,039 ganja (marijuana) plantations worth Rs 24.14 crore were destroyed last year. “We apprehended 221 people, including 97 Bangladeshis and six other foreign nationals, while they were trying to illegally cross the border in 2021 as against 128 people detained in 2020”.
