Bengaluru: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said India cannot achieve peace in isolation as stability and security are "shared constructs".

Singh was speaking at the inaugural event of AeroIndia--India's flagship defence aviation show-in Bengaluru. Calling for greater collaboration with like-minded nations, he said the aim is to take relations with friendly foreign nations beyond the transactional levels of buyers and sellers to that of industrial collaboration.

"We have many successful examples of co-production and co-development with like-minded countries. For us, there is no Indian security or Indian peace in isolation. Security, stability and peace are shared constructs that transcend national borders," Singh said.

The minister also expressed confidence that the private sector in particular will play a larger role in developing solutions for the armed forces.
