NEW DELHI: The Indo-Tibetan Border Police is holding special pension adalats across the country to resolve the grievances of thousands of its retired personnel.

The border guarding force organised the first such 'pension adalat' for its around 650 personnel residing in north Indian states at Chandigarh yesterday, which was inaugurated by Indo-Tibetan Border Police ( ITBP) chief Krishna Chaudhary.

"The sessions are held to resolve issues related to pensioners of the force. About 50 per cent of the cases were disposed off on the spot during the Chandigarh session as both the accounts department and bank officials were present," a senior ITBP officer said.

Some of the retirees, whose pension-related issues were resolved at the Chandigarh session, included recruits of the year 1962 - the year when the ITBP was raised in the aftermath of the Chinese aggression.

The next session would be soon held in Uttarakhand capital, Dehradun where hundreds of retired officials and personnel are expected to come, the officer said, adding the sessions will later be held at other locations in the country too.

The 'adalat' is aimed at redressing the complaints of the retirees and their families on pension fixation and other related issues as these emoluments keep changing with the recommendations of the successive pay commissions, he said.
