SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir police today announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh each on the heads of two militants allegedly involved in the killing of six persons in the Sopore town of north Kashmir.

Posters announcing the cumulative reward of Rs 20 lakh were circulated in Sopore town, 52 kms from here, and adjoining areas today.

The militants named in the posters are Abdul Qayoom Najar and Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, who are believed to have defied the command of Hizbul Mujahideen supremo Syed Salahuddin and been operating under the shadow name of Lashkar-e-Islam outfit.

The militants are accused of killing six persons, including separatist activists and former militants, over the past three weeks in Sopore town.
