Jammu & Kashmir: Army foils infiltration bid in Keran

The gun-battle broke out at Choken Post in Keran sector near the Line of Control at around 7.30 am, they said, adding a soldier was killed in the exchange of firing between the two sides.

The operation was going on when reports last came in, the officials added.
SRINAGAR: Army today foiled an infiltration bid by militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir, killing an ultra, but lost a soldier while two other security personnel were injured.

"An infiltration bid was foiled by alert soldiers in Keran sector this morning, resulting in killing of one militant," a defence spokesman said here.

He said a soldier laid down his life during the encounter while two others sustained injuries.


A search operation is going on in the area, he added.
