VIZIANAGARAM: A technical snag forced a Navy helicopter to land in a field near Ramachandrapuram village in Kothavalasa mandal in the district today.

Three crew members in the chopper were safe, a defence release here said.

Pilot of the Chetak helicopter decided to land it as a precaution after noticing a snag in the engine at around 1.30 PM, it said.

It had taken off from INS Dega in Visakhapatnam on a routine training sortie. A technical team was sent from Naval Air Station in Visakhapatnam to the landing site for providing help after which the helicopter returned to INS Dega safely this evening, the release added.
