Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi emphasised the importance of land forces in any conflict as control over the territory will be the currency of victory for India while delivering a lecture at Army Institute of Management (AIM) in Kolkata on Tuesday.

At an event here, he emphasized the crucial role of land forces in any war, referencing last month’s summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, where the Ukraine conflict was discussed.

“When you look back at the Alaska conference between the two presidents, their focus was on how much land needs to change hands,” Dwivedi said.

“In India, with threats on two and a half fronts, land will remain the key to victory,” he added.

The chief of army staff’s remarks came two weeks after Air Chief Marshal A P Singh highlighted Operation Sindoor’s reaffirmation of air power’s primacy.

He also spoke at length about the evolving nature of warfare and how the Indian Army is undergoing transformative changes by integrating new and emerging technologies.
