Series of explosions heard over southern Beirut

Beirut: A series of explosions were heard early Saturday over Beirut's southern suburbs, AFP correspondents reported, after the Israeli army issued evacuation orders for parts of the area.

AFP correspondents in the Lebanese capital heard a series of loud blasts, with AFP footage showing smoke rising from the area close to the airport, after Israeli army Arabic-language spokesperson Avichay Adraee earlier warned residents of parts of the area to evacuate.
