SRINAGAR: The security forces conducted searches near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri Sector of north Kashmir as the operation between the Army and the militants entered the third day today with no reports of fresh casualty on either side.

"The operation is going on. However, there have been no fresh casualty," a senior Army officer said, adding there was no fresh firing today and the security forces were conducting search operations in the area.

A fierce gun battle broke out in Boniyar area of Uri sector on Friday after the army launched an operation following inputs about infiltration and the presence of three to four militants in the area.

So far, two militants and an army jawan have been killed in the gun fight.

The army has also recovered three weapons and three backpacks from the scene of the gun battle, the officer said.
