Russia warns US against 'military intervention' in Iran-Israel war
Russia has warned the United States not to take military action against Iran, as tensions grow in the Middle East following Israeli strikes on Iranian targets and Tehran’s response.

The warning came after Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a phone call on Thursday, during which they criticised Israel’s actions and called for a peaceful solution.

Russia to US: Don’t Enter the War

Russia’s foreign ministry strongly advised the US against getting involved militarily. Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, “We would like to particularly warn Washington against military intervention in the situation.”

She added that any such move would be “extremely dangerous” and could lead to “unpredictable negative consequences.”

This warning follows recent comments by US President Donald Trump, who said he was still deciding whether to support Israel’s strikes on Iran. “I may do it, I may not do it,” Trump said on Wednesday.

Putin and Xi Call for Ceasefire

The Kremlin said Putin and Xi “strongly condemn Israel’s actions.” They both agreed that diplomacy, not force, should be used to end the violence.

Xi Jinping told Putin that stopping the fighting should be the top priority. “Armed force is not the correct way to resolve international disputes,” Xi said, as reported by Chinese state media.

He also urged Israel to stop its attacks to avoid a bigger war in the region.

Putin Offers to Mediate, but West Not Convinced

Putin has tried to position himself as a neutral peacemaker. Russia has close military ties with Iran but also keeps diplomatic relations with Israel.

Last week, Putin spoke separately to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Iran’s new President Masoud Pezeshkian, offering help to calm the situation.

Xi supported this idea, saying mediation could help reduce the current tension.

However, Western leaders remain doubtful about Putin’s offer. Trump even joked about it, saying, “Let’s mediate Russia first,” in reference to the ongoing war in Ukraine.
