Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met the top Malaysian leadership during a bilateral visit on Monday, with the two countries discussing initiatives to further expand bilateral military ties. A key focus of the discussions, officials said, was on strengthening defence-industrial cooperation.

During his visit, the defence minister called on Malaysian Prime Minister YB Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim. He also met Minister of Foreign Affairs Zambry Abd Kadir during which they exchanged views on matters of bilateral importance and cooperation in international fora. This is the first bilateral visit after the establishment of Enhanced Strategic Partnership, which was announced during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Malaysia in 2015.
