Under the initiative, domestic companies will be able to manufacture the DRDO-developed missile systems, subject to the applicable qualifications, certifications and regulatory requirements.
The Ministry said the technology transfer would help build greater manufacturing capacity in the country and deepen the domestic defence industrial base. It is also expected to create more opportunities for Indian micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and other technology partners to participate in the missile systems supply chain.
The initiative is part of the government's broader push for self-reliance, or Aatmanirbharta, in defence. By enabling domestic production of missile systems developed by DRDO, the move is intended to reduce dependence on imports, increase the share of domestic value addition and strengthen India's indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities.

The ministry said the technology transfer would also support the development of advanced defence systems by bringing together DRDO's technology capabilities and the manufacturing capacity of Indian industry.
DRDO will continue to work with domestic companies to facilitate the transfer and absorption of advanced defence technologies, while supporting their transition towards production and helping strengthen India's indigenous defence capabilities.
