PM Narendra Modi seeks targeted economic sanctions to curb terror funding
NEW DELHI: Raising concern over terror funds being generated from several criminal activities, including vehicle thefts, bank robberies and state-sponsored activities in failed states, PM Narendra Modi called for disrupting fund flows to prevent terror groups from carrying out attacks.

Speaking at the Interpol and CBI conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, Modi condemned the Paris attacks: “The dastardly acts committed in Paris are a grim reminder that terrorists have remarkable flexibility and adaptability in meeting their funding needs.

Disrupting fund flow reduces the ability of terrorists to execute attacks.” He also cautioned the corrupt government officials, saying “45 senior officers have either been removed or faced pension cuts for unsatisfactory performance and delivery in public service.” Calling corruption one of the principle challenges, Modi said, “We in India are currently in a crucial phase of nation building.”
