Pathankot Attack: Jammu &Kashmir Governor orders security audit

SRINAGAR: In wake of the recent Pathankot Air Base attack, J&K Governor N N Vohra on Friday ordered a multi-agency security audit of all the vital security and sensitive installations across the state.

Governor chaired a security review meeting in Jammu, asking the multi-disciplinary agency team to submit the security audit report till January 21, so that he can take stock of the situation by the end of January.

He asked representatives of all the security forces and other intelligence agencies to identify “all existing gaps and ensure total fusion of manpower and technology resources on the ground for providing a prompt and strong counter terror response on all fronts.”

Raj Bhawan spokespersons stated that, Governor stressed the need of cohesive action “to enforce constant vigil on the frontiers, effectively maintaining internal security and ensuring the safety of sensitive establishments and installations.”

According to government statistics, 12 attacks have taken place since September 2013, in which, 51 people, including 11 civilians were killed and 15 BSF personnel were injured.

“Post Pathankot Air Base terror attack it was of vital importance to review the existing status of the security of important Defense and state government establishments in J&K,” Raj Bhawan spokesperson quoted Governor as saying.

The meeting also reviewed the security situation in all the border areas of the state, along the International Border, Line of Control and the Line of Actual Control and identified issues, which required to be dealt with on urgent basis.
