Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Naveed was not ready to get killed during attack: National Investigation Agency

NEW DELHI: Pakistani terrorist Mohammad Naveed was low on motivation, though well-trained, and did not want to die during the 'fidayeen' (suicide) attack first in Jammu and then in Udhampur, investigators have deduced from his lie-detector test and confessional statements.

The National Investigation Agency has determined that Naveed, along with a fellow terrorist Abu Okasha who infiltrated along with him from Pakistan, were dropped off on the Jammu bypass sometime between July 7 and July 11 by one Khurshid Bhatt for attacking a security convoy there but Naveed chickened out and the attach was not carried out.

This was nearly a month before Naveed teamed up with Noman to attack a BSF bus in Udhampur on the national highway in which Noman was killed and Naveed was captured alive.

NIA is set to declare rewards on three more over-ground workers of LeT in the next few days to expose the entire logistic network of LeT in the Kashmir Valley. Home Ministry officials say this is perhaps for the first time that an agency has comprehensively exposed the over-ground network of LeT in Kashmir as local police has generally carried out probes so far with "narrow aspect" of a particular case. Rewards have so far been declared on nine persons in the case.
