The officials informed that a few "Pakistan Army drones were sighted along the LoC in the Naushera-Rajouri sector of J&K". They said the Indian Army troops "undertook counter-unmanned aerial system measures forcing them to return".
These drones hovered over Indian territory for some time before being forced to return. Officials have launched a search operation to ascertain whether they dropped any consignment of arms, drugs or money on this side of the border.
Officials said troops guarding the Nowshera sector along LoC in Rajouri fired from medium and light machine guns on observing drone movement over Gania-Kalsian village around 6.35 pm on Sunday. Another drone was spotted at Khabbar village in Teryath of Rajouri around the same time.
Locals said these flying objects were blinking continuously. Similarly, a drone-like object with blinking lights was seen hovering for several minutes over Chak Babral village in Ramgarh sector of Samba around 7.15 pm on Sunday. Another drone-like object was seen moving in the Mankote sector along LoC in Poonch district at around 6.25 pm on Sunday. "We cannot give exact details, but fire was opened at the drones as a counter measure. These activities have increased over the past few days," said a senior Army official.
