Pakistan -UK Army chiefs discuss ways to bolster defence cooperation
ISLAMABAD: UK Army Chief General Nicholas Patrick Carter today met Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral security and defence cooperation between the two forces.

General Carter arrived here on a two-day official visit to the country went to Pakistan Army Headquarters in Rawalpindi and called on General Bajwa, the Army said in a statement.

"Matters of mutual interest including strengthening of bilateral security and defence cooperation between the two Armies were discussed during the meeting," it said.

Acknowledging Pakistan Army's achievements in fight against terrorism and continued efforts for peace and stability in the region, General Carter said that UK greatly appreciates Pakistan's sacrifices in this regard, the statement said.

Earlier, the UK Army's Chief of General Staff laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada after arriving at the Army Headquarters.

General Carter, who was given the guard of honour by a contingent of Pakistan Army, also addressed participants of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University.
