Pakistan senate panel advises restoration of CBMs on LoC
NEW DELHI: A Pakistan senate committee has strongly advised the Nawaz Sharif government to restore confidence building measures to maintain peace along the Line of Control (LoC) and send out a strong message that the country’s soil will not be allowed to be used by non-state actors.

In a set of policy guidelines to the government on escalating tension with India in the wake of the September 18 terrorist attack in Uri, the committee has suggested in a report that international lobbyists and communication firms be hired to change the global narrative, indicating that the country is losing a diplomatic battle with India.

While most of the 22 guidelines recommended by the committee focus on Kashmir and countering India, the report clearly suggests that Pakistan may be losing the perception game which requires urgent corrective measures.

“The government should hire international lobbyists and strategic communication firms and reactivate Pakistani community living abroad to change global narrative,” the report says.
