Pakistan claims its fighter jets flew near Siachen, India says no airspace violation
NEW DELHI: A day after the Indian Army released a video showing punitive fire assaults destroying Pakistan Army posts across the Line of Control, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) fighter jets reportedly flew today near the Siachen Glacier, according to the Pakistani media.

The Indian Air Force (IAF), however, denied the claims made by the Pakistan media. The IAF asserted that no airspace violation has been reported.

Pakistan media Samaa reported that PAF fighter jets conducted flights near the Siachen Glacier. It also reported that the forward operating bases have been made completely operational in response to “Indian threats”. Mirage jets have also become part of the drills being carried out by the PAF.

Furthermore, the PAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Sohail Aman visited the Qadri airbase in Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, which is located about 100 odd kilometres away from the Siachen Glacier. War exercises are being currently held at this airbase. Aman also took part in the exercises, flying a PAF Mirage jet.

Geo TV quoted him as saying, “Our response to any Indian aggression will be remembered by their coming generations.” He added, “The nation should not worry about the enemy’s statements.”

On the other hand, the IAF chief Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa, on March 30, wrote a personal letter to his officers, asking them to be prepared for operations at a short notice.

India and Pakistan claim sovereignty over the Siachen Glacier, which is located in the eastern Karakoram Range. It is the highest battlefield in the world. On April 13, 1984, India launched Operation Meghdoot to capture the Glacier and finally gained control over it. Following this, there have been several skirmishes between the two nations at the Glacier.
