BOATENG: J&K Inspector General of Police Muneer Khan claimed that LeT commander Abu Ismail, a Pakistani national, was the mastermind of the attack.

Abu Ismail’s name surfaced as he was involved in several recent attacks in Anantnag and Kulgam districts. Khan claimed Ismail and other Pakistani nationals were part of the group led by Bashir Lashkari, who was killed on July 1 in Anantnag. Earlier, Khan had told ET that Ismail was part of the group that killed six policemen, including an SHO in Anantnag, last month. “The attack on Amaranth pilgrims was carried out by the LeT and masterminded by Pakistani militant Ismail,” Khan said here.

DIG (South Kashmir) SP Pani said: “This attack is a very complicated case. I cannot comment on this right now. Investigations are on.”

The government forces have already launched a hot pursuit against the terrorists and are expecting a breakthrough soon. “I will identify these guys within 3-4 days,” a senior CRPF official said.
