JAMMU: Over 1,500 Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel have lost their lives while fighting militancy in the state.

"More than 1500 personnel of Jammu and Kashmir Police(JKP) have made supreme sacrifices while bringing peace and normalcy in the state," Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary B R Sharma said while inaugurating the 27th police-public mela at Gulshan ground here today.

He said PWWA (Police Wives Welfare Association) members were doing a commendable job by organising such fairs.

More than 65 stalls were established by different police establishments, representing all the regions of the State.

On the occasion, Director General of Police K Rajendra said such fairs have served as a bridge between the police and public.

"Such melas not only boost the morale of our ranks but also provide opportunities for them to interact with each other on different subjects," he added.
