The minister, who undertook a visit to forward areas in Rajasthan where he witnessed a capability demonstration exercise and presided over the Army Commanders Conference in Jaisalmer, also reminded troops that Operation Sindoor was not yet over.
"Operation Sindoor will go down in history as not just a military operation, but also a symbol of the nation's courage and restraint. The operation isn't over. Our mission for peace will continue as long as even a single terrorist mindset remains alive," he said.
During the visit, the defence minister witnessed a demonstration of the Bhairav battalions and Ashni platoons that have been raised over the past year and have been specially equipped to deal with modern warfare threats such as drones, electronic warfare and unmanned systems.
The demonstration was carried out at Longewala, the location of an epic battle in 1971 in which Indian forces decimated a Pakistani armoured thrust. In his address, the minister underlined that Operation Sindoor had given rise to a new strategic policy that showed India would respond to any terrorist activity on its own terms.
