OROP: Veterans to burn medals, may meet PM Narendra Modi next week
The ex-servicemen’s organisation leading the ‘one-rank, one-pension’ protest said no serving personnel would be allowed to join the agitation.

While the united front of ex-servicemen, which has been leading the protest for better pensions at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi, indicated that it would not step up protests before next week given that they have been assured of a meeting with PM Narendra Modi and implementation of OROP, veterans seem to be in no mood to back down as of now.
They are planning to gather in the Capital on Friday and publicly burn the medals given to them for gallantry and service, said Maj Gen (retd) Satir Singh, who is leading the movement. On Sunday, they plan to hold a candle light march to India Gate.
Earlier, addressing a gathering at Jantar Mantar where three ex-servicemen continue their hunger strike, Singh said soldiers were disturbed by the ongoing protest but urged them not to display any pubic sign of anger.
