NEW DELHI: No infiltration has been reported along the Sino-Indian border in the last six months, minister of state for home Nityanand Rai told the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. In a written reply to Anil Agrawal, he said there were 47 attempted infiltrations along the India-Pakistan border in the last six months. The month wise break up is as follows: March (4), April (24), May (8) and July (11). No infiltration was reported in February or August.

“The government has adopted a multi-pronged approach to contain cross border infiltration, including multi-tiered deployment along the international border/line of control, improved intelligence and operational coordination, border fencing, deploying technological solutions and taking pro-active action against infiltrators,” Rai said.

Later, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in a tweet took a swipe and said, “Aap chronology samajhiye (Please understand the chronology). PM said no one entered the border... Then took a huge loan from a China-based bank... Then the defence minister said China had encroached ... now the minister of state for home says no encroachment.”
