NEW DELHI: The Union minister for parliamentary affairs Ananth Kumar tweeted on Monday that "... no decision on shifting Aero India 2019 venue out of Bengaluru to Lucknow." He also said that he has spoken to Union defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman and all news of the venue being shifted are "rumours."

Recently Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to request his intervention in ensuring that Aero India- 2019 is held in Bengaluru, as it has been since 1996. The biennial event has been held 11 times at Indian Air Force’s Yelahanka air base on the outskirts of Bengaluru.

“I seek your indulgence for conducting the 12th edition of Aero India-2019 in Bengaluru, where the mega event was held successfully for 11 times biennially since 1996,” said Kumaraswamy in the letter to Modi.

Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath had previously asked the defence minister to allow his state to host the event in October.
