Nine dreaded Naxals carrying Rs 46 lakh reward surrender

NAGPUR: In a major boost to anti-Naxal operations, nine dreaded Naxals carrying a reward of Rs 46 lakh collectively, today surrendered before authorities in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, police said.

Among the ultras who surrendered was a divisional committee member, Sunil Ramji Mattami, who alone carried a reward of Rs 16 lakh on his head, they said.

The Naxals who laid down their arms included two section commanders and three women.

Section commander of Naxals Shiva Sattu Bhim Raju Narote and his wife Rakhi Rekha Timma carried Rs 8 lakh reward each on their heads, Gadchiroli police said.

Tippagarh Dalam member Meera Devu Narote carried Rs 4 lakh reward.

The other rebels who surrendered included Gatta dalam member Kamala alias Ramni Raji Hidco, Dogde Tuge Aatram, Mangu Audru Mattami, Somji Labu Mudi Atlami and Laxman alias Lalu Soma Narote. Each of them carried Rs 2 lakh reward.
