The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted raids at multiple locations in Budgam and Baramulla districts of Kashmir in connection with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) militancy funding case.

NIA officials said 11 locations came under the scanner in the case in which the JeI is accused of engaging in separatist and secessionist activities even after being declared an unlawful association under the UA(P) Act since its proscription on February 28, 2019. The searches, conducted at the premises of the members and sympathisers of the JeI led to the recovery of several digital devices and alleged incriminating material, they said.

The agency said it has been tightening the noose around militancy funding activities.
