NIA carries out searches in Jammu and Kashmir
National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted searches at eight locations in different districts of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with the recovery of an improvised explosive device on June 27.

The case was initially registered on June 27 in Jammu relating to recovery of five kgs IED from a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist in Bathindi, Jammu. The agency, in a release, said that the conspiracy by LeT was aimed at causing explosion in Jammu using the IED. NIA had re-registered the case in July after taking over the case from Jammu and Kashmir Police. The agency had earlier made arrests in the case.
The agency said that its probe revealed that Pakistan based handlers of proscribed terror outfit LeT and their associates based in J&K are planning terrorist activists in J&K using the pseduo acronym TRF so as to maintain plausible deniability and evade adverse action.
The agency claims to have recovered many digital devices and other "incriminating materials" during the searches conducted on Tuesday.
