News of any future attack will be passed on through digital data network; phones obsolete
NEW DELHI: With a spurt in incidents of attacks on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, home minister Rajnath Singh has operationalised an online Incident Response System (IRS) for central armed police forces (CAPF), giving away the earlier mechanism of transmitting information through phones.

The ‘unadulterated’ data and information will be updated real time at a central command and control room located in North Block, said officials.

The move came after reports that there were delays in obtaining ground reports and situations, particularly during the several incidents of stone pelting in J&K.

IRS requires the field units to upload details of the incident real time, which will be connected to the central command and alert operators whenever new information/incident is flashed.

As per senior MHA officials, this mechanism will cover incidents related to terror, violence, disaster and communal riots that require immediate operations, rescue and relief.

“Earlier, CAPF headquarters used to alert the central control room at North Block after obtaining information from the field units through phones. Information used to get lost by the time it was communicated to ministers and senior officials in-charge of security.”
