NDFB(S) militant killed in encounter in Assam

GUWAHATI: A hardcore NDFB(S) militant was killed in an encounter with the police in Assam's Kokrajhar district, police said today.

The police had launched an operation in Rungkhuwa village last night and an encounter followed in which the militant was killed, Bodoland Territorial Area District (BTAD) IGP L R Bishnoi said today.

The slain militant has been identified as Lachit Brahma alias Rukhwmwt and the police recovered from his possession a 7.62 pistol, a magazine, three rounds of live ammunitions, four rounds of fired empty cartridges, a mobile handset and two hand grenades.

Search operations in the area was continuing today, Bishnoi added.
