SINGAPORE: Navy to Navy ties between India and Singapore are the key pillars of bilateral defence relations, Indian envoy here has said.

"Defence relations are one facet of the vibrant India- Singapore dynamics. Our two countries have enjoyed long- standing historic and cultural links, continuously strengthened through the vibrant Indian diaspora here," India's High Commissioner to Singapore Vijay Thakur Singh said here last night.

"Trade and economic ties also remain strong as both countries continue to identify new areas to work together for mutual benefit," she said at a reception held on board Indian naval ship Satpura at the Changi Naval Base.

"Satpura is capping off a long and successful deployment in South East Asia and the Pacific working and partnering with our friends and their navies," Singh said.

While in Singapore, the ship has had a wide range of exchanges with Singapore Navy which serve to support long standing and healthy relationship with the navies of the two countries, Singh said.

The reception was attended by naval officers, diplomats and members of the Indian community here.
