Indian Navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan today arrived here for a two-day conference being attended by 36 countries with a focus on maritime security cooperation.

COLOMBO: Indian Navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan today arrived here for a two-day conference being attended by 36 countries with a focus on maritime security cooperation.

Dhowan will take part in the 'Galle Dialogue' starting here tomorrow.

"The focus of the Dialogue is cooperation on maritime security. India plays a crucial role in the region when it comes to maintaining security in the blue water," Navy sources said.

At least 36 countries are being represented at the Dialogue.
