Nagrota terror attack: Alert sounded in Vaishnodevi

Authorities sounded an alert and stepped up security in and around Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishnodevi cave shrine in Trikuta hills of J&K's Reasi district.

JAMMU: Authorities today sounded an alert and stepped up security in and around Katra, the base camp of Mata Vaishnodevi cave shrine in Trikuta hills of Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.

"We have sounded an alert. Security has been beefed up at Katra and other areas of the shrine after the terror attack at army camp in Nagrota," a police officer of Reasi district said.

Police and security men have been asked to remain vigilant, he said.


Katra town, which is nearly 30 km from Nagrota, is thronged by over one crore pilgrims annually.

"Security along the shrine track and around it has been stepped up," he said, adding "checking and frisking has been increased and people should cooperate with us".
