Samba attack: Terrorists used tunnel to infiltrate into India, says BSF DG KK Sharma
Briefing the media about the militant attacks, BSF DG KK Sharma said a tunnel has been found in Chamilyal, Ramgarh sector of Samba sector, which was probably used by the terrorists to infiltrate into India.

The developments were shared by the BSF’s Director General K K Sharma here today.
The BSF had said that on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday, in the general area of BSF Border Outpost Chamliyal in Samba, Jammu, some suspicious movement was noticed by thermal imagers. A BSF patrol was fired upon by the terrorists. The BSF retaliated and killed the three terrorists.
The BSF said it recovered 517 rounds, a pistol, an AK-47 rifle, radio sets, mobile power banks, bottles containing liquids and 7 Improvised Explosive Devices from the slain militants.
"Now the question is how did they come. We were surprised. Today morning during a thorough search of the area we were able to detect a very small tunnel," said Sharma.
The tunnel is close to 80 metres long. "We will take up this matter with the Pakistan Rangers," said Sharma.
The DG explained the problem in detecting such tunnels. There is no technical equipment to detect it, he said. "We try and dig trenches of 15 to 20 feet in depth to detect a tunnel, but it is not possible to dig a trench along the entire IB. Only when we suspect the presence of a tunnel in an area, do we dig a trench to find the tunnel or to be on the safer side we deploy nakkas. It was this tactic of deploying a nakka, which detected the presence of militants and killed them," he said.
Sharma also said the BSF had prior intelligence on the infiltration of terrorists into Samba sector.
